A FEW WORDS ABOUT US

We started in 1990 as the first privately owned psychological publishing house in Poland and we are now the leader in the area. For a few years now we have also been publishing ambitious fiction, children’s literature and books from the borderlines of psychology, philosophy, anthropology and morals.
The company was started by a quartet of personal friends, Mr. Santorski, a prominent Polish psychologist and media personality, and three expatriate Poles living in Sweden since 1960-ties. Since then Mr. Santorski has left the company which is now owned completely by the remaining trio: Mr. Paweł Książkiewicz who has moved back to Poland and runs the Warsaw Office on daily basis, Tomasz Pankowski and Ms. Helena Shayn, both take a long view from Sweden.
Even though we publish many Polish authors and the largest part of over 400 foreign titles we have published are written by English speaking authors, we do have several best sellers from other languages (notably Scandinavian), like Stieg Larsson, the author of Millennium trilogy, the well known Norwegian writer, Jostein Gaarder or Swedish authors, like Ulf Nilsson, Mikael Niemi, Hakan Nesser and Agneta Pleijel, not to mention the French authors like Simone de Beauvoir, Catherine Clément, Michel Onfry.

We are recognized as well as the Polish leader of  psychological handbooks. Our authors a.o. are: Alexander Lowen, Hellen Palmer, Francis Macnab, Irvin D. Yalom, Raj Persaud, Mantak Chia, Charles & Caroline Muir, Ian Kerner, Eva-Maria and Wolfram Zurhorst and many others.
Though we do not belong to the largest publishing houses in Poland, in fact, we are “small to medium”, our recognition quotient on the market is disproportionately high thanks to our professional, concentrated promotion campaigns of the relatively smaller number of books that we do publish - not to mention our “luck” in finding good sellers.

Yours sincerely,

Dorota Castricum
